What is a TSCM Technician? Definition
A TSCM technician is an individual who is trained in technical surveillance countermeasures techniques.
Knowledge of Technical Surveillance Threats
TSCM technicians or operators must understand threat and risk posed by technical surveillance methods. These methods (devices and techniques) compromise the privacy of an organisation, a specific space or an individual.
Detect, Identify, Locate
All TSCM technicians should be able to identify and measure threat domains and then interpret and analyse the results obtained to detect, identify and pinpoint locate any technical surveillance attacks or vulnerabilities.
Measurement Equipment AND Analytical Skills
Having a suite of expensive TSCM equipment, will not make you a TSCM technician. Just as owning a Formula 1 car would not make you a Formula 1 driver! It is essential to have undertaken extensive operational TSCM training to be able to interpret, analyse and investigate anomalies.
