TALAN Training – TSCM
TALAN Training – TSCM
Over the best part of 20 years I’ve been surprised on many occasions by the number of TSCM Operators that have invested in the TALAN telephone and line analyser by REI…..Who just don’t know how to use it properly.
In all fairness to those Operators, REI didn’t exactly make it a user friendly piece of equipment from the ground up! I recall one government agency that bought a TALAN from an REI Agent in Europe. They attended a TALAN training course with that REI representative (at great expense) then within 4 weeks of returning to work, were on the phone to Sarah asking for urgent ‘help’ because they really didn’t understand how to use the TALAN operationally to detect, identify and locate an attack.
I have personally tested TALAN training provided by one REI agent and, while the trainer knew his way around the TALAN equipment itself, at the end of the two days I asked him: ”So how do you know if there’s an attack on the telephone system?” as he had avoided any instruction in the actual detection and identification or REAL attacks on a telephone system. His answer: ”Its not easy” in short, he didn’t know. The course was only to show how to operate the TALAN, not an operational course to show how to find attacks on a telephone system.
This is a compound issue, and the majority of Operators we see really cannot use the TALAN properly. Some have confessed to just not using the TALAN as its ‘too complicated’.
At Verrimus we have a proven TALAN training course that instructs a user how to use REI TALAN to enable an Operator to Detect, Identify and Locate an attack on a telephone system. We have a training telephone network with attacks to allow an operator to be able to practice on a real telephone network…
You would think that’s a given, right? To train on telephone networks a training company would have a training network to practice on? Well if your considering taking TALAN training from anyone, make that your first question. Do you have a training network with real-time threats to train on? You’ll be surprised at how many training companies do not….including REI Agents that offer TALAN training as ‘Authorised REI Representatives’.
Anyhow….Not to worry, Verrimus can provide you real operational TALAN training, plus our pricing is realistic.
