Football and Bugging – Yes It Happens!

The sporting industry, just like any other, is not exempt from bugging – or more accurately technical surveillance attacks.

Why Is the Sporting Industry a Target?

Why would anyone think that football would be exempt? Is there a financial gain to be exploited by knowing about private conversations concerning professional, tactical, financial or personal matters? YES!

The article below refers to a football manager asking for his office to be swept for eavesdropping attacks.

https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/10804458/spfl-manager-bugged-office-swept-listening-devices-davies-nevin/

The article also seems quite dismissive of the concern. Is that because there is a lack of awareness regarding what technical surveillance is? Or just how prevalent technical surveillance (TS) attacks are? Is that because the author of the piece has no knowledge of security? (Journalists should be vigilant and aware of privacy compromising attacks against themselves and their industry!). Whatever the reason for the apparent lack of seriousness regarding the request, Verrimus can confirm;

TECHNICAL SURVEILLANCE ATTACKS DO OCCUR IN THE SPORTING INDUSTRY see the following post about Manchester United bugging incident from football and Formula One to cricket and horse racing, it happens!

Those who are aware of the nature and prevalence of TS attacks, also know the appropriate mitigations to detect, identify, locate and deter them!
