Buyer Beware – Purchasing TSCM Equipment

Purchasing TSCM equipment, can be a complicated process for many organisations. At Verrimus TSCM Training Centre we give our clients the very best TSCM Training available. This includes the use of the very best TSCM equipment, obviously. We understand that buying TSCM equipment can be difficult. Sometimes the difficulties are compounded by procurement process that insist on 3 quotes etc. Though sometimes the difficulties involve trying to get past the ‘sales patter’.

Now…All of our equipment is tested by our Operators and Instructors rigorously BEFORE we purchase it. So its a bit of a mystery why people don’t do the same and end up with equipment not fit for purpose.

Essentially TSCM involves an experienced operator gathering measurements of the threat domains, then interpreting those measurements to detect, identify and pin point locate any technical surveillance attacks or vulnerabilities, which need to be addressed.

There’s equipment available that is rather expensive, and yet the sales personnel will never tell you that there is FREE software that will do the same task! Some pieces of TSCM equipment and software are just dressing up industry standard measuring tools that have been perfected and used for a long time in other settings. Before buying TSCM equipment or software, ask is it adding value in relation to the cost? Is there another piece of industry standard kit that could do the same job? Are you being swayed by the Military type acronyms and jargon? Is it all just dressing and sales pitches?
